Day Trips to Take Near Towne Lake

Looking for a fun getaway this summer? Towne Lake has quick and easy access to any one of these destinations. There’s something for everyone.

For the music enthusiast, take a short drive to Brenham for the Hot Nights Cool Tunes Concert Series (every Saturday night in July). The show starts at 7pm in the Courthouse square and is free to the public. Be sure to bring your lawn chair. Stay the night at the Ant Street Inn and be sure to cool off with some ice cream from Scoops, home to the best tasting Blue Bell ice cream.

If the beach is calling your name but a 10-hour drive and/or flight is not doable, point your car towards Galveston and enjoy the salt water and sound of ocean waves. Spend the whole day there by starting with brunch at The Sunflower Bakery & Café and ending with a sunset and dinner at Gaido’s.

Take in a cultural experience with a trip into the city limits of Houston. The Museum of Fine Arts, The Museum of Natural Science, The Children’s Museum of Houston and The Health Museum are all free on Thursday afternoons. Get inspired at The Menil Collection and Rothko Chapel and finish your trip with a coffee and pastry at Commonbond Bakery or dinner at The Menil Bistro.
